Welcome

Roserigg is stuated in the quiet village of Smithfield in N Cumbria close to the Borders and North Pennines and the Solway Estuary. It is roughly equidistant between market towns Longtown and Brampton and is only 6 miles from the flourishing city of Carlisle. There is therefore plenty to explore and occupy the visitor, from country walks along the Roman Wall to retail therapy in Carlisle or Gretna. The area is steeped in history with many sites worth a vist, and stories abound of the marauding 'Reivers' who lived either side of the Scottish Border.

The accommodation sleeps four in two double bedded rooms.

Cyclists will enjoy the miles of 'back lanes' that cover the area of the borders between Carlisle and Moffat and for the Mountain Biker there are trails at Newcastleton, Dumfries(7 Stanes) and Keilder Forrest parks.

Walkers can find miles of local bridleways and footpaths and within easy reach, more walking in the North Pennines around Alston, and along the Roman Wall.

Whatever delights you sample you can return to a warm and comfortable cottage where the owners Alan & Elizabeth Mitchinson, who live nearby will endeavour to make your stay pleasant and enjoyable. Further details of local facilities and things to see can be found on the 'Out & About' page.
